Firstly the bad news that I’ve still got a couple more frames to finish on Mira, but I’ll make an update as soon as she’s finished.
Good news? Well aside from the release of a little enemy that can also double as a State (Final Fantasy Fans should know this little guy)
I’ve tried to duplicate his movements as best as I could, he’s got a nice wiggle going on XD Alternative colour and full sheet release on the forums soon.
Better news? Really? Okay so I read this by Moonpearl:
”So basically what I’m saying is that if you’ve got ideas in store (now or later) to improve your sprites, that can’t seem to actually work because of script constraints, just don’t worry about it.”
Now there’s always been a few things I’d like to have done with the Minkoff battle system for XP, though it never happened for the two reasons in what Moonpearl had pointed out. So I bit the bullet and have made the first little step to something which I hope catches on -hoping aswel that people think outside of the box-
Mags, from Phantasy Star is pretty much inspiration for this. Could be a slight twist to Blue Dragon, but any ways I’m not here for your project planning. These are simply one row sheets which could be used as a backup for actors. I vision them to the right of the actor, remaining a certain distance from the actors 0,0 point. Want to see the first test batch?
Mag will come in six colours and I couldn’t resist doing the Chao, I had to remove the dual ones (for Kalki and Ila) because it would be too difficult to have one over each shoulder of the actors.
I’ll be uploading these sheets to the forums very soon.
Still want more good news? Oh for the love of… okay, reason for the delay? Well I’ve been trying my hand at a bit of Recording, why? Well I’ll be releasing me creating these Animated Battlers on my YouTube channel. You may have seen that I’ve got a request thread on the forums at the moment for a four second tune or sound effect, I hope with this to then be able to upload the completed videos. It’s not of an entire sheet being made, some are time lapses and there’s one of me creating a frame for Mira which is 30min long. I’m planning on talking it through and giving some insight into spriting.
It’s not a tutorial as at the end all you’ll be able to do is recreate that pose, but it should give some nice hints and tips.
Stay safe and if anyone would like to chat or discuss ideas for implementing the Mags into a script then send me a PM, comment or shout really loud.
